Delhi - Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra - Khajuraho - Varanasi
North India Cultural Tour is a nostalgia of experiencing a never before cultural heritage of the country blessed with many marvels. Beginning from Delhi’s sightseeing, the tour proceeds towards Jaipur, a city where royalty and splendour rest in its true form. The major cultural attractions include Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. The tour then furthers in east towards the still preserved ruins of Fatehpur Sikri. The next halt is in Agra where the white tomb, Taj Mahal rests in love and peace. The trail then centers to Khajuraho via Jhansi. Famous as an apogee of Indian sculptry, Khajuraho Temples depict the erotic art in its true essence. The catharsis of this itinerary rests in the timeless city of Varanasi, where Hindu traditions still dwell around the banks of River Ganges. Day 1: Arrival Delhi Meet at Indira Gandhi International Airport and transfer to hotel.
Overnight in hotel at Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi After breakfast, morning tour of Old Delhi. It is a 17th century walled city with its splendid gates, narrow alleys, the enormous Bazaar. Visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat. Afternoon tour of New Delhi with wide tree lined avenues, parks and fountains surroundings the imposing government and state Buildings. Visit Humayun's Tomb, an observatory called Jantar Mantar, Qutab Minar, India Gate and President House. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.
Day 3 : Delhi - Jaipur (252 Kms / 5 Hrs) After breakfast drive to Jaipur. On arrival check in at hotel. Evening is free to relax or to visit local markets. Overnight at hotel in Jaipur.
Day 4 : Jaipur After breakfast, morning excursion to Amer Fort. Ascendon a painted elephant or Jeep Safari, up to the fort with its huge gateways and pillared pavilions. It has a marble Palace, Temple of victory and Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors). Afternoon City tour of Jaipur. Visit City Palace and Museum. Nearby is the ornate Hawa Mahal (Palace of winds) which has five stories and is decorated with delicate screens carved with stone. Also visit Jantar Mantar. Observatory, which is still equipped with immense, brick and mortar instrument. Overnight at hotel in Jaipur.
Day 5: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra (232 Kms / 5 Hrs) After breakfast drive to Agra en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikhri built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 yrs. Due to scarcity of water. Predominately, a red sandstone construction sprawling over a huge
area, the architectural style is very much in tune with emperor's dream & partakes of both Hindu & Muslim styles. See the graceful buildings including Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch mahal & other places. On arrival Agra, check in at hotel. Evening free for leisure or you may walk around the markets. Overnight at hotel in Agra.
Day 6 : Agra Morning city tour Agra visiting Taj Mahal - The Monument of love, built by Mughul Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 to enshrine the mortal remains of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Later visit Agra Fort dominated by red sandstone construction & houses the beautiful Pearl Mosque and other noteworthy structures. Overnight at hotel in Agra. NOTE: TAJ MAHAL IS CLOSED ON FRIDAYS.
Day 7 : Agra - Jhansi (By Train) & Jhansi - Khajuraho (190 Kms / 4 Hrs) After breakfast, transfer to Railway Station to board train to Jhansi. Upon arrival Jhansi, transfer by car to Khajuraho. Enroute visit Orchha. Khajuraho is famous for its 10th century Chandela dynasty temples and their erotic sculpture. Overnight at hotel in Khajuraho.
Day 8: Khajuraho - Varanasi (By Flight) After breakfast, visit the temples which are famous for erotic sculptures. In the afternoon transfer to Airport to catch flight for Varanasi. Varanasi is most important place of pilgrimage for Hindus. Meet on arrival at Varanasi airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Varanasi.
Day 9 : Varanasi Early morning depart for boat ride at holy river Ganges, see Hindu rituals. Return to hotel for breakfast. Later leave for Sarnath. Afternoon city tour visiting Bharat Mata temple, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas, Benaras Hindu
University. Overnight at hotel in Varanasi.
Day 10 : Varanasi - Delhi (By Flight) & Depart Delhi Morning free for leisure. Later transfer to Airport to catch flight for Delhi. Upon arrival transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward destination.
